  • Nagoya Hub Sucks !
  • (2009-07-20)
  • This has to be one of the most messed up places to go drink. A British Pub owned entirely by Japanese. Here in Sakae in Nagoya they don't even speak English and most of your clients are foreigners. They don't hire any foreigners in the Nagoya branch so how do they call themselves a British Pub. The Japanese are great at copying ideas but have no originality. Hell their website is not even in good... Read More

  • My FAVORITE bar in Tokyo!

  • This Hub is my favorite branch store of this chain of English style pubs. They have the same menu as the other Hubs (decent selection of beer, numerous tasty cocktails and usually fried bar food that actually tastes pretty good) but it has the best atmosphere in my opinion. The staff are all really nice and the Friday and Saturday crowd is generally approachable and open. This is one of the places... Read More

  • The HUB is a chain of English themed pub’s that seems to be opening new locations around Tokyo faster than a crowd can form for their happy hour specials. Popular with a wide range of groups the location will often dictate the clientele, so choose your place accordingly. They offer what is easily one of the best happy hour specials in Tokyo, with jumbo sized, double strength cocktails availabl... Read More

  • OK, but watch out for the Turks in the front room. They're there most nights and will steal your girlfriend right in front of you. They'll also forbid you from talking to any girl they have spoken to in the last 5 years who there too. They don't drink much as they're Muslim and the staff are pretty scared of them. I've never seen them fight as I think they're too smart too get arrested here- prob ... Read More

  • Had a really good time here and plan on coming back in the future. The drinks are alot cheaper than some places I was running into. (1500 Y for a rum and coke, wtf?!) Good atmosphere and met some cool people and the place had a good vibe to it. Definitely recommend!

  • The Hub is home to some of my best times here in Japan... The food is great (i am addicted to the lamb kabobs), and for 1000Y you can get a liter beer... If you think you are an unbeatable drinker and have the tolerence of a pirate then try the Guantlet... Bring only 10000Y and no credit cards... Sure it is really tacky but still alot of fun

  • After some spending some time in Japan, walking into Hub felt like I was transported home, albeit the most tacky pub at home I'd ever been to, where the walls are plastered with English memorabilia, but home nonetheless. The food menu has a range of choices though I haven't ordered a meal here I have sampled the pizza and burger. AVOID the pizza unless you like the combination of salmon and mayonn... Read More

  • I wandered into Hub on a Saturday night, and I was not disappointed. We were able to snag a table, which is sometimes a difficult feat. The mixed drinks were all excellent, and while a tad expensive (630 Yen each), they were well worth it. The Hub does actually give you the impression of being an English pub--probably because of the number of foreigners there, coupled with the soccer channel in th... Read More

  • The idea of a chain of bars meant to feel like an English pub sounds a bit tacky, but I think Hub accomplishes what it attempts to do. With a decent beer selection, a whole food menu and the makings for most other cocktails, Hub is a great meeting place. It draws mostly a young foreign crowd but it is also frequented by Japanese. During the week it's pretty tame, but it gets quite crowded on the w... Read More

  • The Hub is a Pub franchise in Japan. There are hubs at pretty much every major district in Tokyo and there are even a few out in the wilds of Osaka and Kobe. They make good fish and chips, serve beer in Pints and the Japanese people who go are usually fairly open-minded to meet foreign people (because they are in a place which simulates being overseas). The Hub can get pretty busy on Friday and... Read More

  • All hail 1300 yen liters of beer. Like every other Hub in Tokyo, don't forget your point card. Fairly typical Japanese attempt of recreating a British pub. But it is an excellent place to stop in if you want a free lesson in English slang. It's also a pretty good place to find an English teacher, as the foreigners who don't work in English schools can afford better hangouts in Roppongi.

  • I came here because friends seemed to like this place when I visited Tokyo a few years ago. What a mistake! Tiny portions of awful food. To be avoided.

  • Hub is a chain of "English Pubs" in Tokyo. This branch is one of my favorites! It's one of the larger branches (but don't let that fool you, it still gets overcrowded on a Saturday night). Most of the cocktails are good and they serve Guinness and Bass on tap (along with Kirin). It's a fun atmosphere and usually people are ready and willing to have a chat after 9pm ~ I think that the fact that it'... Read More

  • I always visit Hub before 7pm to enjoy happy hour, which all drinks are half priced. The place isn't bad, but nothing special. I like just sitting on a table with my friends and watch sports played on the screens. The service is good. A staff always checks around the seats to clear empty glasses. English menus were available and I saw many foreigners enjoying a drink.

  • An English pub in Japan? Well it's that that uncommon, but Hub is just that, an English pub in Japan. On the inside, it looks like an English pub, with a few TV's and scattered tables and benches throughout the bar. They have a few types of beers, liquors, and 2 types of shochu. Their selection of alcohol is not very extensive but it is a nice atmosphere to drink off the week. I liked just sitting... Read More
