My last trip to Tokyo I couldn't help but wander into this tiny shop. The large cartoon condom on the front of the store seemed to just wave me in. Inside is cramped, but the assortment of condoms is amazing. I didn't know there could be so many different kinds.
Most of them aren't for practical use and are obviously best used as a gag gift. Still, the store really presses the matter of safe sex and it does have a good meaning. I wouldn't suggest buying the condoms for actual use; it's pretty obvious which ones are going to do the job and which are just for show.
It's a fun place to visit. If you're walking by just peek your head in for a curious observation. I ended up buying a few to bring home for some friends as a joke.
This is a small, entertaining shop that caters to those who are willing to enter in a light and silly mood. It is certainly not good for those who will take it too seriously and get embarrassed, and obviously not a good shop for small children.
I was embarrassed, but really intrigued by the sign, so I crossed the street to get a closer look. It was packed with people of all ages, which made me feel a little more comfortable going in.
This is definitely the ideal gag shop for those who want to make someone blush. There are all sorts of novelty products, like condoms with rulers attached, and condoms with smiley faces on them. Most of the products warn the buyer that they are not suitable for use, so take that into account when you are looking at products.
For the most part, this is just a really fun store that will make you blush and make you laugh out loud at the same time.
Marla Singer once said, "The condom is the glass slipper of our generation." Condommania simply extends that adage to humorous and realistic approaches to safe sex. To many Americans, the large cartoon condoms on the wall talking about safe sex are quite funny and great picture opportunities. They have even given the characters names like "Pokey" and "Lubey." Condommania is a chain of stores all over Tokyo and each one has slightly different merchandise, but all essentially the same. They have plenty of lubricants and boxes of condoms to suit all your preferences and styles. But additionally, the also have many humorous items for sale as well. Need a Halloween costume? Buy the condom suit they sell on the cheap. You can also find a "Life Saver" and "Virus Protector" single packaged condom that do not seem like condoms to the cursory glance. There are many things in here that are fun to look at and think which one of your friends would like it or be embarrassed with it. This is not for everyone, most likely not families, but is still a lot a of fun for your immature side.
