  • Perfect for melting your stress away. The price is a bit expensive compared to most onsens, but it is well worth it!

The womens spa area has 6 hot tubs, 2 of which are out-door, as well as 1 mini foot massage tub. Each hot-tub is heated at a different temperature. One, was especially relaxing because it has massage jets, that you can control the strength and direction of. There is also a sauna room available (I lasted less than 5 minutes in there....). After you leave the hot tub area, the locker room is full of amenities such as face milk/cream, hair milk/gel, body lotion, q-tips, combs, hair dyers and the like which you are free to use. There is also an area with cosmetic samples.

Not surprisingly, since we're in Japan, there are a few vending machines full of drinks or personal items such as underwear and toiletry sets.

Afterwords, you have can venture to another floor with a small common area for women. Or you could continue into the area for both men and women. In these areas you can either take a nap on the recliners, watch TV or read the magazines they provide. Drinks (and food?) are also available, drinks are in the 500 yen range. In front of the drinks bar you can either chat with your friends or surf the internet. I think this is the best part of LaQua, to be able to fully enjoy your relaxed state.

There are also other services available, but you need to pay extra for them.

  • To tell you the truth, I am not very keen on onsens, whether indoors or outdoors, especially during the hot summer months. I am the last one to enjoy or adapt to this sort of Japanese culture. In fact, for the longest time, I used to wear my neon colored Local Motion surf shorts inside. Probably attracted more attention than if I just went in my birthday suit. Seriously, La Qua is an experience that even onsen haters like me should try once in your life.

We ate dinner in one of the fabulous restaurants, with plenty of delicious Japanese food favorites like sushi, sashimi, tofu dishes, and other healthy spa food. No sweat so far.

After experiencing the various onsens during the span of one hour, I came out to relax in one of the many reclining lounge seats with TV attached. I swear I must have slept like a baby for a few hours, and just completely lost track of time. Without sounding redundant, did I just lose control of everything in total relaxation? Perhaps. You get the picture.

Before I knew it, we needed to leave before midnight to queue up and settle the bill. This is one time you want to avoid because anyone staying past midnight needs to pay an additional 1,890yen charge. Judging from the largely banker and yuppie clientèle, no one wanted to get knocked up for an extra charge.

  • Tired? Stressed? Need a vacation from your vacation? Right next to the Tokyo Dome is a fabulous Onsen (public bath) that really relaxes and refreshes you. Laqua Spa is a Super Sento, which means that it is much bigger than most public baths. When you first enter Laqua, you are struck by the beauty of the place immediately and know that you will be comfortable. After storing my shoes in a locker I proceeded to the front desk where they spoke great English and had English brochures. Instead of a regular locker key, they give you a digital bracelet that can be used to open your locker and buy anything that you want in Laqua. After receiving the bracelet, I went to the men's locker room where they gave me towels, a shirt, and pants to wear around the sento. The locker room was exceptionally nice and the bath area was equally as nice. They had 4 different hot tubs of different temperatures both inside and out and they also had 2 cold tubs. Additionally, they had lots of personal showering spots and a large sauna. After I was refreshed from the bath, I went downstairs to the relaxation lounge where I found a room full of chairs with TV's attached and that can fully recline. The chairs were very comfortable and I took a nap just laying there. At the far end of the hall was a snack shop that mostly has drinks, but also serves some ice cream and a few food items. If you do get hungry while you are in Laqua, simply go to one of the two restaurants there and have a nice meal. Although I did not get one, they had several massage places where you can get all sorts of massages. They also have a hair and nail salon. I spent about 4 hours in Laqua and afterwards felt extremely relaxed and refreshed. I was so comfortable in there that when the stress in my life starts mounting again, I think I will go back, pay the 2,550 entrance fee and just spend the day to relax.
