This was a pretty cool grocery store aimed for the health conscious. It offers a great selection of organic vegetables and has a lot of other healthy items as well. I was happy with their free range meat selection. It's not as expensive as I expected, and the quality is definitely worth the slightly higher price.
From the outside, I assumed most products at Natural House would be out of my price range, however this wasn't quite the case. Although a little pricey, there was a great selection of pre-made foods. Also notable was the selection of frozen fish and seafood. My favorite part, perhaps the only one relevant to those on a budget, was their dairy department. They had a fantastic array of milk, yogurt, cheeses and everything in between. The yogurt was cheaper than other conbenis and than most supermarkets I've seen, and was hands down the best yogurt I've had thus far.
Natural House is the Japanese equivalent of an upscale grocery store targeting health-conscious consumers. Not everything is organic, but a lot of it is. The vegetables come with pictures of the farmers that grew them, and you can find free range eggs and meat as well.
Some of the novelties on offer at Natural house are their organic bentos and onigiris, some of which are made with brown rice. At the back there is a sizable health section with supplements, vitamins and other pills, while opposite to them there are natural cosmetics, shampoos and soaps that are made with organic ingredients and haven't been tested on animals. At the back they also stock yoga equipment, so this is a place to look for a mat or stretchy wear for your next class.
Just like whole foods in the United States, the prices at Natural House are a bit steep. This is to be expected given the location and the produce, but on the whole Natural House is a good one-spot-shopping place for natural products.
Natural House is obviously supposed to be an upscale grocery store, but as many grocery stores do, it comes off as being kind of like the rest. However, it has some nice points. First, if you imagine a health food store from the United States, you'll basically have Natural House. Well, instead of American health foods, you'll find Japanese health foods. As if soba wasn't healthy enough for you, here you can find soba made from organic buckwheat. There are super organic variations of products such as ketchup as well. There are a few American and European products as well. You can also find a few housewares as well, such as naturally made pillows. I liked their slogan, "Organic Life and Sustainability.” While you can buy your bread and butter here, you'll pay out the nose for it. In my opinion, this is the kind of place you stop if you're looking for one specific ingredient.
