  • The happiest place on Earth!
  • (2012-05-07)
  • This place is Amazing (capital A added for emphasis)! There’s so much to do and see that’s it’s utterly impossible to cover it all in a day. It’s a great day out.

At Tokyo Disney Sea there’s something for everyone. For the connoisseur a grand mixture of delectable delicacies (including several different flavours of popcorn in prime locations around the park) at prices that are reasonable for theme park food. For the thrill seeker there’s a 360 degree roller-coaster (though it’s not what I’d call scary) and the haunted mansion ride that, with its free fall drop, is guaranteed to delight. For the young and the young at heart there’s Ariel’s Grotto (a personal favourite of mine due to the magic cool atmosphere) and so much more. There’s also an interesting mix of cool shows that change depending on the season (at the peak of Tokyo summer the water shows are a particularly nice occurrence).

I’ve been here at least a dozen times and will visit again the next time I have the chance. It’s a must-see for everyone coming to Tokyo. If you can only do one of the Disney parks, this is the one to go for.

  • Tokyo Disney See
  • (2012-01-01)
  • When: December 30th 2011
Who: Me, my 10 year old son, his friend and his mom.
Wear: Lots of warm clothing including hats, mittens, scarf. Bring electronic devices for distraction.
Why: It is winter holiday and we had a free day. We thought the crowds might be smaller due to impending New Year's tradition preparations.
    Verdict: We were terribly wrong.

Overall I will say, if you haven't been go. The prices are higher than indicated and I have uploaded a picture of the actual ticket window. IF you go this time of year, dress warmly. It was freezing and my friend and I were VERY tempted to purchase a plush character hat. BTW Disney Sea should be Disney See because the people watching is incredible. I have never seen so many grown mend and women walking around in character hats and earmuffs and carrying teddy bears. You should also make an effort to catch shows on the lake. The Theatrical shows are all in Japanese so that might be tedious, but the day and evening shows on the lake are spectacular. Disney Sea is known for catering more for adults and older kids than DisneyLand. I think this is a fair call.

We were there from 10am to 10pm and got in 3 rides (whirlpool, 20,000 leagues, Temple of Doom), 1 scavenger hunt, 2 shows and lunch and dinner. The day went quickly. The rides can be anywhere from 50-90 minute wait and if you get a fast pass, you are only allowed 1 every 2 hours.

FYI: those plastic buckets dangling around everyone's necks are for popcorn refills. :)

  • I want to go back!!

  • Disney Sea surpassed my expectations a thousand fold. We went after 6pm and bought the twilight pass which is a lot cheaper at 3,100. As it was much later there were barely any crowds. In the four hours we were there (it closes at 10pm) I got to go on ALL the rides, some even twice. The longest I had to wait was 25 minutes which just flew by. The setting is beautiful, Disney Sea really puts attention to detail in every world it creates. Mediterranean Harbor, American Waterfront, Mysterious Island, Mermaid Lagoon, Port Discovery, Arabian Coast and Lost River Delta all transport you to a authentic and magical realm. The food is delicious too. I tried two different flavors of popcorn, caramel and curry both of which were very tasty. All in all a wonderful experience, I want to go back!

  • A tip for the frequent visitor.
  • (2008-11-16)
  • My family visited Disney Sea twice in the last 6 months as we have friends and relatives visiting. However, both times were equally exciting for my 2 boys aged 6 and 9 years.

If my family were to visit a third time, we would take the "twilight pass" (discounted) which allows entry I think after 6pm. By then, most of the crowds would already been very tired and will be having dinner or waiting to see the grand finale show around the lake. That would be the perfect time to queue for the rides which would normally take more than 80 mins. during the day.

  • You should go because :
  • (2008-10-23)
  • I'm 25. It was my first time in a Disney park. I didn't expect anything but I was quite amazed !
I have to say that attractions are not so much fun and you have to queue a lot, bring a book or an handeld.
It's the bad side but that's no matter here.

The park is quite beautiful. Everything is perfect. You are in NY in 1920 and few steps after you are in a jungle. I really loved this place and I definely get back before I leave Japan.
I almost forgot, the agrabah palace is a must see !

Even if you have no child with you, you should get there and see the magic. Don't forget to buy some cookies from the store at the main gate ;)

  • I <3 DisneySea!!!

  • If you want to go to Disney that can only be found in Japan, Disney Sea is the place to go! This park is geared more toward the older crowd with less attractions for small children. The atmosphere, however, is still very Disney-like and it's guaranteed you will leave feeling happy and satisfied. The architecture inside the park is amazing. There are all kinds of shows to see, food to eat, and rides to ride. Check out the different types of popcorn all over the park for something original. And the best part is seeing all your favorite childhood disney characters around the park making the actual kids happy (and you too, if you're still a kid at heart!!) If you're a Disney fan in any way, it's definitely worth a visit!

  • Going to Disney Sea here in Japan was actually my first DisneyLand experience and it wasn't a disappointment. Unfortunately, a litte but into the time I was there it started to rain but it turned out to not be such a bad thing. This made the lines incredibly short and I was able to ride most of the rides within 10 minutes of waiting. My favorite ride was the one where you are shot out of a volcano and for a brief second, you are able to see all of Disney Sea before plumting down again.

The food was of course very expensive so I bought food at a convenience store and brought it in. I didn't encounter any problems with that, although there is a bag check at the entrance. I definitely suggest bringing snacks because the food is expensive and in very small amounts.

I was upset because the Indiana Jones Ride was closed for repair so I suggest checking the website to make sure any rides you might have been looking forward to are active. I consider the entrance fee to be quite expensive so I was angry that the ride I was most looking forward to was closed down.

Otherwise, the area which mimics Venice is incredible. It really looks like Venice and in photos you can't tell that it's not the real thing. The gondola rides are also free (well, included in the price) unlike the 100-200 euro in Italy.

I think overall the park was very enjoyable, foreigner friendly, and easy to get around. I certainly suggest it if you are an avid Disney fan or even just like amusement parks.

  • Best amusement park ever!!
  • (2007-12-27)
  • Disney Sea is amazing!! I guarantee you won't be disappointed.
I went there on the 24th. Most of all must be thinking it would be crazy to go on Christmas Eve. It is said that there is a restriction at Disney Land every year. But actually, Disney Sea was not as much crowded as I expected. I was able to enjoy 6 attractions by using "fast pass" efficiently.
Anywhere you go, there is always entertainment. You would feel as if you had entered a different country, or a dream. Just a walk is quite enjoyable. At night, there were two shows on the lake and also a firework show. Disney Sea is the best amusement park ever!!

  • Wonderful Christmas!
  • (2007-12-16)
  • I went to the Tokyo Disney Sea on Sunday December 9th. Amazingly, everything was Christmas!! In the middle of Tokyo Disney Sea, a big pond is located and surrounded by many shops and attractions. Literally, this is the world of water. Of course the concept of most attractions are related to the water. You would be never disappointed here!
Especially night time is fantastic and amazing!! Tons of illumination are shinning and take you to the different world from real one. Mickey or Donald or your favorite characters board on ships and march in the parade. It wasn't so crowded I expected. But you have to wait around 1 hour for popular attractions. This is the must-visit because only Japan has Disney Sea in the world! Tokyo Disney Sea definitely warms and smiles you.
    Have a nice Christmas!
