The Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum opened in 1926 and displays famous collections from other museums around the world. Found inside Ueno Park, the museum is designed to appeal to audiences large and small. The items on display change frequently, and vary by season so if there’s something specific you want to see, it’s a good idea to double check the current exhibit before visiting. While the museum has a number of plans for future exhibits featuring Western and Japanese artwork, for the most part, the displays feature large-scale exhibits from the Louvre or the Orsay Museum.

  • I wasn't very impressed with the Tokyo Metro Museum of Art, or "Tobikan." For starters, their website only has one page of English - you can't easily see what's being exhibited at any given time.
