This is the elusive Red Bar in Shibuya (some people call it the chandelier bar). A favorite of foreigners in-the-know and hip Japanese, it is possibly the coolest bar in Tokyo. All drinks cost 500 yen and the decor is unique. Be warned that the bartender will get quite upset (and may ask you to leave) if you try to take pictures, get too drunk, fall asleep or don't return your glasses before asking for a new drink. The same owner runs the piano bar in the nearby Nombei Yokocho.

The two times I went to this place, it was nearly too crowded to even get in the door, let alone get a drink, which took about ten minutes. The decor is unique and interesting, but I found the clientele to be a bit of the 'i'm part of the in crowd and am not interested in talking to strangers' group. I'm not sure why I went to the place twice.

One of Tokyo's best bars in my opinion. Go figure when they're actually open...I tried to ask the bartender several times, and he always eluded the question.
