Baqet is a hybrid between a bakery and a restaurant. The main pull at this relatively small restaurant on the 8th floor of Yodobashi camera in Akihabara is the all-you-can-eat freshly-baked bread deal that comes with a main course. This is a perfect place to stop and load up on carbohydrate goodness after shopping for electronics in Akihabara.
We visited at dinner time and ordered their set menu, which included a choice of appetizer and main course, together with the all-you-can-eat bread deal. We were served a salad and browned scallops for appetizers, while the main dishes were steak (a thin one!) and grilled chicken. The food is Italian-inspired but forgettable. In any case, we were not interested in the food as much as we were keeping an eye on the oven. You can wait by the bread counter and pick your buns while they are still steaming. Unlimited butter will keep you happy for the rest of the evening. The winner for me were the croissants, followed closely by the onion and cheese buns.
Baqet has an inexpensive wine list, with several choices in the 1500-2000yen range. We ordered a good Chilean red wine which inexplicably came chilled with chilled glasses.
This is a good spot for dates, groups of friends, or families. The bread will keep you happy and give you an extra boost of energy to continue roaming the shops at Akihabara!
