Paul Bassett came into the international spotlight when he won the 2003 World Barista Championship. He opened his first store in 2006 and joined forces with a World Patissier Champion, Hironobu Tsujiguchi, to offer his confectioneries.

  • Paul Bassett is worth the walk from Jiyugaoka station. The lattes and espresso drinks are some of the best I’ve ever had, and the shop speaks of a level of professionalism that you’d never find at excelsior, doutor, starbucks or any of the other mass chains.   • To be honest, I was expecting more when I purposefully located this shop. It's on the West side of Shinjuku, which is pretty unknown to me as its basically a business district (in my eyes anyways). It's located on the basement floor of a business building and forms a food floor with a few other coffee shops and restaurants.
