This is the West Azabu branch of Gonpachi, a restaurant to which Prime Minister Koizumi has invited President Bush in the past for business dinners. The interior is in the dignified style of a Japanese house with an enjoyable traditional Japanese atmosphere about the place. They get quite a large number of foreign customers, so servers can interact flawlessly in English too. It’s the kind of izakaya where you can relax and enjoy dinner. The inside is divided into a kushiyaki kabob section and a sushi section, both of which have course menus available.
