This Swedish restaurant can be found in Akasak Tokyu Plaza, right next to Akasaka-mitsuke Station. Opened for business in 1971, Smorgasbord was the only restaurant in Japan specializing in Swedish food. Here you can enjoy authentic Swedish cuisine (using ingredients available by season) such as salmon marinade, meatballs, and apple pie. At lunch, they offer a “Special Lunch” (1,260 yen) which includes hors d’oeuvres, soup, salad, a main dish, dessert, bread and coffee, which is pretty popular. At dinnertime, for 6000 yen, they offer authentic traditional cuisine including over 60 different types of hors d’oeuvres made from fish, meat, vegetables, cheese, all the way up through dessert.

  • The food here is nice. There are some interesting dishes and sauces. I really loved all the salmon and pickled fish. For dessert there was a yummy baked apple cobbler among some other cold pudding looking things. But the staff is...err...uptight. It was really quiet and I could hear all of the other patrons' conversations. It was fun to try once, but I won't be back.

  • Always Great Swedish Food

  • The food at Stockholm is always reliably very good. The presentation is beautiful, and the food is great. The huge selection of fabulous dishes at the lunch time buffet smorgasbord is a treat we look forward to. Every time I have taken family or friends there we have all enjoyed it. Like many restaurants in Tokyo the service can be a bit stiff (hence "4 star" rating instead of 5); however, make... Read More

  • Stockholm

  • Like most people, I try to hold my farts in public. At Stockholm however, I really wanted to release a loud one, just to see if I could make the experience even more awkward for everybody in the room. Stockholm seems to be frozen in time, but to its detriment, not a good time. Walking in feels like a bad hotel from the 1980s, complete with a cold buffet spread, a window display with mousse desse... Read More
