This sushi chain has its in Sendai. The Akasaka branch is in the first basement of the building that stands on the corner where Akasaka Ave. and Hitotsuki Street meet. The shop has 25 counter seats and a number of tables available. If you sit at the counter, yhou can watch the sushi chef prepare your sushi right in front of you on top of bamboo leaves. At lunch, for a total of 1000 yen, you can get one of several lunches like their nigiri-sushi set or tekka donburi (tuna sashimi vinegar donburi), all of which have a great value. Even at dinnertime, you can get one plate of extremely fresh sushi for around 200 or 300 yen, so the place has a reputation for giving you a lot of bang for your buck.

  • Good Inexpensive Sushi

  • Great place for good, cheap sushi. We eat here all the time -- the sets are a good deal, although I don't like their tuna-salad roll. I usually order a small set and then augment with additional meguro and salmon which are fresh, tasty, and cheap. They also have good sake. The atmosphere is good and the sushi chefs are very encouraging of my halting attempts at ordering in Japanese. Their miso com... Read More

  • Hi, I tried this restaurant 3 times in a row (staying @ grand chinsun akasaka just near). Each time it was a good one, the quality of the fish is really good, it is quite cheap. Waiters can try to speak english, enjoyable for me. I'm not an expert but I'm going back tonight maybe. Good address. Of course it can be busy, but there is a good atmosphere between the customers and the chef. 'L... Read More

  • A hit and a miss

  • I've visited this restaurant 3 times with my boyfriend. The first time, we were impressed with the quality of sushi served, for the price, as well as the helpful staff members. We were seated at the counter and the atmosphere was very pleasant. Other than sushi, they also have a very good menu for cooked seafood. I ordered the hamachi no kama, which I rarely see available in Japan (maybe I'm n... Read More

  • One of the most impressive features of Sushikan is the bright, friendly atmosphere. For a basement restaurant, it's incredibly bright because it's on the corner of the block. All of the people who work there, from the sushi chefs to the waiters, are warm and chatty. Our waiter furnished my friend and me with an English menu and explained the specials in English. We had one of the daily specials, t... Read More

  • Sushikan squats at basement level under a giant Tully's corner store, right across from the TBS Tower. Three sushi chefs serve the long counter of customers, who mostly order set lunch meals. Sushikan offers some playful fusion options but also sticks to the basics well. I ordered "Tokujyou," or "extra large." I was given an appetizing plate of tuna, ikura, anago, etc., in addition to more unusual... Read More
