This tempura/tempura donburi chain restaurant has nearly 100 branches in the metropolitain area. Until Tenya’s conception inn 1989, tempura was thought of as a ‘traditional’ food with a high-class image (and a high-class price tag). However, with their 500 yen tempura, Tenya made tempura into a food that the general public could enjoy. Other than their foundation 500yen tempura donburi, they also have a “udon set” (which, predictably, is served with udon) and various tempura sets. They also introduced “special” tempura donburi, which uses ingredients that differ according to the season to the dining market. Reasonably priced, convenient, quick; Tenya lets you enjoy tempura like never before.

  • Donburi makes a really great lunch, and tempura never fails to delight. Since Tenya combines the two, it's a sure bet.   • Tenya is the definition of Japanese fast food. After sitting down in this cozy restaurant, I was immediately given the menu and asked to order (they do have and English menu with pictures).   • Good value for your Yen. Great for guests staying at the Courtyard Marriott Ginza. English menus. Vast selection of tempura bowl combos and the option of plenty of add ons like udon noodles. Lunch crowds build by noon...so get there early. Can be challenging to seat a group at lunch hour. Just had the sakura don the other day... and set me back 780yen!

  • I have been to Tenya all around Tokyo.The tempura is crispy & tasted good & crunchy! And further more is cheap & reasonable.

  • We made a mistake walking into this restaurant. The tempura was poorly done and wasn't very fresh. The batter was too thick and the taste was very oily. The shrimp was also overcooked. Now, I avoid this chain like its a plague.
