Sora No Niwa
Sora no Niwa, which means "the sky's garden" or "a garden made of sky", is a restaurant specializing in tofu. From Shibuya station, walk about ten minutes in the direction of Ebisu, and you'll find it. The calming scent of wood greets you at the entrance, and is a pleasant accent to the restaurant's traditional Japanese ambience. The "tezukuri (handmade) sorano-tofu" is highly recommended, and is unique to the restaurant. Made with home-grown soybeans, this dish implements the natural fermenting process of soymilk--and allows you to enjoy the freshest tofu ever, created right at your table. Although the tofu dishes are of course the stars of the show, the chicken and sake menus are also extensive and enjoyable. There are many single dishes, but to really get a taste of what Sora no Niwa has to offer, try one of the course menus. As tofu cuisine is extremely healthy, the restaurant is especially popular with local young women keen on keeping their figure.
