These rows of traditional Yakitori places set underneath the railroad tracks in the Ginza/Yurakucho area. The shops are all very small but spill out on to the street in the evening, and are housed in ancient buildings that are slowly being torn down and renovated, shop by shop.

  • I went to one of the restaurants in Yakitori Alley. It was an impressive experience to walk in, and was quite a change from the bustling streets of Ginza's shopping district.   • I read about this Yakitori alley in a travel book, but it did not do it justice. The restaurant I went into was I believe simply called 'yakitori'. It seemed that ay of the many yakitori stalls and restaurants would have been a good choice though. We were the only non locals in the restaurant. The staff couldn't speak English, but we managed.
