  • We are lucky to have customers from over 130 countries.

Our business is in the hands of the third generation of the family, which selects the best Japanese goods and casual kimono and footwear for our customers to enjoy.

Our shop master walks the streets around the world looking at various souvenirs, and not only expensive ones, to find those that help preserve your memories. We want our customers to enjoy the search as they look through our products to find that special something with which to treasure and remember their time in Japan. That is our wish for you.

Our special footwear has taken Paris by storm and become a hot trend. Try our footwear and walk together with those at the forefront of a new fashion revolution!

  • Our store name "MARUARA WATANABE" comes from "Arazou Watanabe", who started a kimono specialist store in 1925.
  • This "Hanten" jacket was worn during the reconstruction of our kimono store right after World War II in 1945.

  • Original goods
  • We've heard numerous requests by our customers from around the word and offer our unique line of original goods.

Boundless towels!

Our "Tenugui" lineup pays homage to the classics but also takes a step beyond tradition and features contemporary designs.
"Tenugui" are small Japanese multi-purpose towels that are not unlike a hand towel in size. We feature fourteen different patterns with written words, such as "I'm a little tea pot," and "twinkle twinkle little star."

  • Original Obi

Our cues came from New York, Hong Kong, Dublin and Florence. A regular customer who is a native of New York but lives in Tokyo mentioned to us that she loves the summer festival clothing, but that tying the obi -- the belt that goes around a kimono or yukata -- is quite challenging.

Later on we found ourselves admiring the products of Shanghai Tang during a trip to Hong Kong. They strike a remarkable balance between casual clothing infused with a Chinese touch. Similarly, we found in Dublin clothing that blended seamlessly the traditional checkered pattern of a kilt with a t-shirt in the colors of Ireland's rugby team(green of course!). We finally found our inspiration in Florence at Leonardo Da Vinci's art museum and stone sculptures. Our final product is an Obi that can be tied in two-three minutes even by people with little experience, and which is comfortable enough to sit down on a chair or drive a car. Even more, it combines beautifully with Western clothing!

  • We have a great selection of jinbei, onsen yukata and winter jackets in kid sizes. You'll be able to find something for every season, and our customers from around the world have found a Japanese present for their little ones!

Casual suits in the style of the movie "The last samurai."
Original goods that you will not find anywhere else!

  • Starting in the year 2000, Maru-Ara Watanabe has been distributing its goods in Paris at 2 3 Rue des Blancs Manteaux, Paris, France. Our store has been influential in starting new fashion trends that take their cues from Japan.

  • We have plenty of other goods, including bags, mobile bags, cellphone straps, noren (Japanese curtains), fans and much more. We hope you will enjoy the unique Japanese spirit of "Iki (Japanese-style "chic")" at our shop for great souvenirs and other attractive items. We are waiting for your visit!

  • This is a nice place to buy souvenirs. They specifically have a nice selection of Kimonos. They aren't the greatest quality, but if you're buying them as gifts they're pretty cheap. Around $30 a kimono. The wooden shoes are cute and come with neat little designs on them. The kimonos come in adult sizes, too, but I though the kids ones were more adorable. The shop is decently priced and defin... Read More

  • I stumbled into this store for the first time just a couple of weeks ago. I have to say, it is the perfect place to stop in and pick up gifts before heading home for the holidays. It's also a great place to take out of town guests so they can do all their shopping for friends back home. They've got generic souvenirs like keychains and postcards, but they've also got sandals, bags made of kimono... Read More
