Honmon Ji
Honmon-Ji is the head-temple of the Nichiren sect of Buddhism. Once you've climbed to the top of the 96 stone steps leading up the hill, you'll be welcomed by the temples and belfries dedicated in the honor of Nichiren. Memorial services are held in the name of the founding monk from the 11th to the 13th of every October. Over 300 thousand worshipers gather on the night of the 12th, making it a lively event. The five-tiered Pagoda is the oldest original structure on the grounds, dating back from the early 17th century. It is lit up during the spring nights, and its contrast with the cherry blossoms is a mystical sight of beauty.
