Kotoku-in is famous for its Daibutsu--literally a large statue of Buddha. At 13.35m (approx 44ft), the Kotoku-Buddha is second only to the Great Buddha in Nara. It is said to have been originally constructed in 1252. For 20yen, you can enter the body and take a look from the inside. Kotoku-In is a must-see on any trip to Kamakura.
